INNER SOUND® was founded in 1978.  Since then, Arden Wilken has taught the INNER SOUND® system of sound healing in Europe and America.

The SCHOOL FOR INNER SOUND®, based in Barcelona, is devoted to the education and preparation of sound therapists who are certified to work with the INNER SOUND system.  Courses are available at the School and through correspondence as well as in other locations throughout the world.

The SCHOOL FOR INNER SOUND offers courses, seminars, workshops and practitioner trainings (some by correspondence) in sound and therapeutic music that cover many aspects of this new and exciting field of alternative medicine. Sound and music healing/therapy have a rich tradition in the West which has lain dormant for over 2000 years. The SCHOOL FOR INNER SOUND breathes new life into sound and music as a healing medium in the world today.

The basis of the INNER SOUND techniques that are taught at the school are a series of motifs (short melodies) and intervals, the uses of which were defined by Arden and Jack Wilken. The motifs and the intervals can be found in the work of Pythagoras, in classical music, and Gregorian and Sufi chants among others.

Anyone can learn to apply these techniques of sound healing/therapy using the voice, tuning forks, and most musical instruments or recorded healing music. No prior music education is required. One even has the possibility to create personal compositions for their clients using the specific elements of the motifs and a variety of instruments from a library of short sound bites. Whether you want to produce the sounds yourself or use recorded material, the SCHOOL FOR INNER SOUND provides a wide range of sound healing tools.

As a large area of study of the SCHOOL FOR INNER SOUND is dedicated to both the use and playing of specific motifs or melodies, this is especially applicable to the area of music education as well as use by musicians to improve their contact with their music and their ability to improvise.

The practitioner trainings help you to create a step by step process starting with the creation of your working space and skills, including the creation and maintenance of the client/practitioner relationship, a concise theory of emotions and their release and integration through sound and music, a set of diagnostic tools to determine what sound or music to use to create ongoing treatment program and a process by which the client can integrate sound and music into their lives. (Some of the practitioner trainings are available as correspondence courses.)

There are 4 practitioner courses and 3 technical trainings. It is possible to become certified as a practitioner. This certification is recognized by both international and regional organizations. Through the practitioner courses it is possible to become a trainer or teacher in sound healing/therapy with the voice and sound healing/therapy with tuning forks.

    Introductory Course in Sound Therapy

    This is a weekend course that introduces the participant to the field of sound therapy through theoretical, background material, an historical musical voyage and a sound therapy treatment. Many sound therapy systems are explained including INNER SOUND®.

    The course gives information on the general use of sound and music to heal emotional blockages. It is an excellent introduction to the use of sound and music as a healing and therapeutic medium for all ages.  Arden teaches this course in Europe, the United States and Canada.

    The INTRODUCTORY COURSE in SOUND THERAPY is a prerequisite for the 9-weekend/8-module INNER SOUND Training in Barcelona and is recommended for all other INNER SOUND trainings.

    INNER SOUND Sound Therapy Practitioner Training (Attendance) - USA 2005

    This professional training is available in Seattle, Washington.  Including the INTRODUCTORY COURSE in SOUND THERAPY, it is a 9-weekend/8-module training in the use of INNER SOUND®, a system of sound and therapeutic music for the expression and integration of the emotions. Trainings are scheduled to begin in October and run until the following July each year.

    Upon satisfactory completion of the course the student is certified as a practitioner in INNER SOUND (Sound Therapy).  The student will also be eligible to receive a certificate from the International Association of Sound Therapy of which INNER SOUND is a member. The certification process includes the successful completion of examinations for the 9 areas of the course and working with 2 models through a complete program for the 17 CDs

    We will offer the Professional training beginning in January 2005 in 4 weekends (including Friday night of each weekend), instead of the 9 we present in Europe.

    The remainder of course work is to be completed by distance learning. Half the course is theoretical information, listening programs for the CDs, iris factors and body reading client/practitioner relationship. The other half is listening to the CDs over a period of months.

    A 5th weekend is to learn how to compile the Personal Music. There is no obligation to do the Personal Music course. However, the Professional training is a prerequisite for it.

    The cost of the Professional training will be $1,200 for all 4 weekends, including the course material and 17 CDs, if paid in full at the beginning of the training. It will cost a total of $1,300 if paid for per module, at the time that each module is attended.

     

    INNER SOUND Personal Music Compiler Training (Attendance)

    Requirement: INNER SOUND Sound Therapy Practitioner Training

    Cost of the Personal Music Compilation course and the dedicated computer in which to compile the Personal Music is $1500. This is an all inclusive price.

    This includes 2 Personal Music Compiler CDs. (It does not include the keyboard and mouse. Most people have these.) Afterwards each CD is $5.00 each. There is no minimum number of these you have to purchase. These are printed on the disk face with INNER SOUND Personal Music CD and there is a place for you to write the person's name and the date.

    Booklets, similar to the previously provided Personal Music booklet, in which practitioners can indicate listening instructions for their clients and nominate CD titles you might also recommend.

    A space is provided on the back page of the booklet for practitioners to provide their own contact information, either by stamp or sticker. Above that are contact details for Inner Sound in the US, UK and Europe.

    If you are only interested in taking the Personal Music Compilation course, and then purchasing the computer at a later date, that is also possible. In such circumstances, the price of the Course alone is $300 and the computer is $1,200.

    INNER SOUND Sound Touch Technical trainings

    This is an in-depth course covering the use of the INNER SOUND Five Touches & 21 basic MOTIFS on the keyboard where each participant learns specific ways to apply all 21 of the INNER SOUND motifs to create specific healing effects.

    Training objective: To understand and use the 5 basic touches described in the INNER SOUND motifs and, as well, the specific 21 INNER SOUND motifs; Autophonetics - Level 1, Autophonetics - Level 2, Autophonetics & Sound Touch Training to use INNER SOUND Five Touches & 21 basic MOTIFS for keyboard & voice.

    INNER SOUND Tuning Fork Technical trainings

    The healing effect of tuning forks comes from our body's ability to respond to their pure sound.  They provide an overall attunement of the body, which, in turn, promotes flexibility within the nervous system.

    The Basic and Advanced courses can be taken either separately or together over a period of 2 days. Both trainings are included in the Practitioner course in Barcelona.

    Upon completion of both trainings and submission of a complete treatment process with 2 models, certification as an INNER SOUND Tuning Fork Practitioner will be given.

    INNER SOUND Tuning Fork training - Level 1

    This is a training course of one and one half days, about the use and basic application of the 13 INNER SOUND Tuning Forks. Each participant will have the opportunity to practice using the forks under direct supervision.

    Course requirements: none.

    Training objective: To learn how to use the 13 INNER SOUND Tuning Forks personally and with others as a general balancing tool. There is no obligation to purchase the tuning forks.

      INNER SOUND Tuning Fork training - Level 2

    This is a 2-day in depth use of the tuning forks where each participant learns specific ways to apply using all 21 of the INNER SOUND motifs to create specific healing effects.

    Course requirements: A set of INNER SOUND Tuning forks.

    Training objective: To understand and use the 5 basic touches described in the INNER SOUND motifs and, as well, the specific 21 INNER SOUND motifs.
